Usage of single day / recurring / interval tasks
The missions in Goal Map can be divided into 3 categories according to time and cycle types: "Single Day Missions", "Recurring Missions" and "Time Interval Missions".
Here we will introduce the usage and scenarios of each of these three types of missions 😊.
Single Day Tasks
Single-day tasks are used to record the tasks that need to be completed in a certain day, mostly for one-time transactional tasks or temporary tasks, such as:
- I have to apply for an ID card on May 17
- On August 28th, you have to go through the admission procedure, etc.
Recurring tasks
Recurring tasks are suitable for tasks that need to be completed repeatedly. For example.
- Finish reading a book from April 1 to April 30 and set it to be read every night at 10pm
- Write a monthly summary on the last day of the month
- English word review based on the Ebbinghaus forgetting curve
The goal map offers a rich variety of looping options: looping daily, looping certain days of the week, doing every 2 days apart, and even personalized looping frequencies like multiple days a week/month and multiple times a day are supported. For more information about custom frequency cycling tasks, see this article.
Time interval tasks
Interval tasks are suitable for tasks that are heavy or complex and require multiple days to complete. A time interval task can be created by selecting a start date and a deadline for the task (while keeping the loop type as "no loop"). Within this date range, the task will appear in the calendar as well as in the monthly calendar view. Time interval tasks are very useful in complex projects, such as:
- Pre-thesis research, lasting one week, starting from May 11 and ending on May 17.
