Smart use of goal colors

When you create a target in Goal Map, you need to choose a color. We feel that colors can be decorative, but also express emotions and indicate the level of importance. Color conveys information faster than text, and when you use goal colors correctly, managing goals and tasks is much more efficient.

Why is the goal color important?

The color of the target plays an important role in all corners of the Goal Map:

  • Today's task list: the color of the target on the task card is visible at a glance, you don't need to read the text of the target to know to which unique target the task belongs
  • Monthly calendar view of tasks: In the monthly calendar view, the title information of the target is hidden due to the limited space, and the title of each task uses the color of the target, so the space occupied by the color of the target becomes larger instead, at this time an eye-catching color of the target can make the task monthly calendar clear at a glance
  • Data review: The histogram and the ring chart in the data review both present the percentage of completed tasks with the color of the goal, in the review statistics, the trivial details of the tasks are hidden, only the goal remains - this is also the design philosophy of the goal map: the value contributed by each task will finally become the energy to achieve the qualitative change of the goal.
  • Widgets: The information about the goal on the widget is presented entirely in the goal color, which maximizes the use of the widget's "inch of space" while providing as much information as possible.

Build your own exclusive color system

Giving meaning to colors beyond aesthetics and building your own color semantics will help you manage them more easily.

Building a system of color semantics is as simple as grouping your goals into broad categories (such as "health", "work", "interests", " Family", "Improvement and Challenges", etc.) and associate some colors with these categories.

An example of a color semantic system

Here is my system of color semantics that I think works very well and share with you.

  • Work/study type goals: red 🍎
  • Health/exercise/life: green 🌿
  • Family/parent-child relationships: pink 💗
  • Improvement and challenge: blue 💎
  • Interests: Other colors, depending on the mood! 🌈

Different colors must have different meanings to you. Combining this meaning with life and goals may lead to unexpected gains!
